The Wedding at Cana.
|
"The Wedding Feast at Cana" is a massive oil on canvas painting created in 1563 by Paolo Veronese (1528-1588),
one of the main figures of the Venetian School of the 16th century.
The painting has dimensions of 6.77 × 9.94 meters (267 × 391 inches, or 22' 3" x 32' 7"), which makes it the biggest
painting in the collection of the Louvre Museum in Paris, a fascinating record!
There's a deeper meaning behind this scene, though, because it's a representational painting depicting
one of the best-known Biblical stories, the moment Jesus Christ turns water into wine.
